I could almost say that rats, like most rodents, are verging on cute. There's not a huge difference between the rat and say, a chipmunk, at least not a fundamental difference. If you forget about their tendency toward disease and thievery, they're okay, smart even.
But it's hard to feel bad for somebody who leaves turds all over the top of your fridge. How he got up there, I'll never know, but if I had to guess, I'd say he probably won't do it again.

Gotcha, suckas!

Posted by: wro at June 10, 2004 08:01 PMWow! I can't believe you posted that. Where the hell do you live that that big ass rodent felt comfortable runnin' around your house?
Posted by: elsie at June 11, 2004 08:43 AMwe have lots of construction out front and old woods out back. plus it's an old house with many places to hide, scurry, etc... it's set up like a rat resort.
i don't mind posting this because 'having had' rats is very different from 'having' rats. but we checked the traps again today, and i'm a little stunned at the new body count. (hurl)
now's the time, the walrus said, to MOVE.
thanks to that picture, i'm convinced that every unusual noise in my apt is a giant bloodthirsty rodent waiting to attack.
Posted by: natalie at June 11, 2004 09:31 AMmove? now that we've rid ourselves of vermin?
don't be such a wuss.
Posted by: abe at June 11, 2004 09:35 AMif i found a rat in my apt i would move. no explanation, no warning. i'd just be gone. and crying.
Posted by: natalie at June 11, 2004 12:06 PMthat gives me a good idea for a prank.
Posted by: abe at June 11, 2004 01:25 PMtoo bad you don't know where i live.
Posted by: natalie at June 11, 2004 06:15 PMemail me and I'll give you her address. This reminds me of when a friend of mine and his girlfriend found a rat in their trashcan. They opened the can and the rat actually peered at them over its shoulder as if to say, "you mind closing the lid? I'm a little busy here." They slept in a hotel that night and move a week later.
