The problem is not that I'm incapable of committing noble deeds, it's that I'm acutely aware of it when I do.

Posted by: abe at May 12, 2005 02:15 PMcongratulations on your self-awareness, abe. you should be proud.
on a serious note, this reminds me of a moment in seminary. i had been struggling with the issue of impure motives. i had gotten to the point where i was so aware of that impurity that i beat myself up for every thing i did and began questioning why i should even try at all when i would never do anything with a completely pure heart. my professor looked at me and said, you're right. your heart sucks. you'll never have a pure motive. and you know what, god is even more aware of that than you are, and he loves you anyway, so quit bitching and get on with your life.
alright then.

Posted by: lillian at May 13, 2005 11:52 AMIs picking on other people's friends one of the "noble" things that you've done recently?
Posted by: Bethany at May 17, 2005 04:18 PMbethany, do i know you?
you sound like you're referring to something in particular, though i'm not sure what. but to answer your question, i only pick on my own friends.
