What a crappy re-make....

Generally, I am not crazy about re-make, especially when they are classics and pretty much anything you do to then will probably cheapen the story (see Psycho remake for other examples of this phenomenon). I watched Manchurian Canidate tonight. Let me preface this by saying that the original still stands in my top 10 favorite movies of all time. It is fantastic at so many levels. However, the new one directed by Jonathan Demme is a ad for Air America dressed up as a really crappy remake of a classic. For crying out loud, the main anchor on the "fair and balanced" network throughout the movie is AL FRANKEN. Needless to say, it didn't take looking into it too deeply to see that this was a movie that had a couple of things to say about the administration. Too bad this will totatly be lost on people who watch this 10 years from now, but overall, very disappointing. Stay away from this one unless you haven't see the original and think that GW Bush is the next Hitler. Then you might dig it.
