It is generally tough to get some good blogging in during the week, but until I get out of the non-blogging funk, I think that I am going to do a weekly wrap-up of what is going on in the crabby household.
The big thing this week was that I was able to go to the new Aquiarium down here in Atlanta. It was a department outing which was all the better as I was able to look at amazing fish instead of grinding the axe at work. Overall, I would say that I am very impressed. You have to be into looking at many types of fish and I think that a certain element of child-like wonder is needed, but if you can go in and enjoy it, the new aquarium is great. The highlights are definitely the large tank with the 2 whale sharks which are planned to grow up to 40 feet long and the baluga whales. Both of the exhibits are very, very well done and pretty much worth the price of admission. I am pretty sure that downtown Atlanta is going to be packed this year. It will be interesting to see how it evolves and thus how it changes downtown Atlanta as well.
Saw an odd flick called PI. Not sure what it was about other than numerology basically. I think.
My biggest pet peeve / cultural yuck factor is the Lexus / Infinit commericals that are on the tv and the radio. I have been giving a fair amount of thought towards how much attention gifts get and how in the past gifts were for the kids, not so much for adults. I guess that in a society that is somewhat anti-kid and materialistic to boot, it makes sense that Christmas would be a time to indulge a shopping spree, but it just makes me ill on many levels. I hate seeing Christmas boiled down to what am I going to get. I guess that I just want to emphasize the "reason for the season" aspect, but really doing it. Going to be thinking of how I can do that with our kids. Secondly, I can' get past people giving luxury cars for Christmas. It is financially irresponsible on so many levels. "Honey, I went out and spent 40K on your present. Hope this makes you happy." Mr. Yuck face. Ok enough cranky old man for the time being.
The boy is doing really well. He had his 4 month check up and all of his stats are still really good. The doctors say he looks like a 5 or 6 month old, but that he is starting to average out. We have to have him on vitamins now which smell horrible. The look on his face when he gets it in his mouth is picture worthy (might try to post one if I can snag it). He is still sleeping good and overall is a much better baby than we deserve. Here is a pretty recent pic of the boy. Heeeee's pretty good lookin.
