More Upset Republicans

I just got back from my state senate district convention today. For the people there, George Bush is the best thing that ever happened to the Republican Party. Maybe they haven't been reading the news lately. But then, most would think anything that doesn't go their way is some kind of liberal conspiracy. There is another good article from a reporter named Dan Thompson about Republicans who've had it with Bush. The Bushies are so busy trying to shore up the far right that they are ignoring their moderate base. I don't think Karl Rove is as smart as one thinks.

Hi! I am looking for Republicans for Kerry kinds of materials to distribute in strongly Republican precincts. They should not be just Kerry materials, but genuinely created by Republicans for Republicans. Any advice, assistance, etc., you can give would be appreciated. The best of all worlds would be to hook me up with a generous benefactor who could supply these. I would volunteer my time to distribute them.

Thank you for these two articles, and for The Moderate Republican. Soon, I will be a college graduate seeking employment in DC and I am having a hard time with my political affiliation. I was raised a Republican, but I'm becoming more and more disgusted with the White House. I want to try to work for a moderate and I tell people I am a moderate, but I get a lot of comments that moderates don't exist anymore. That's why I thank you for this blog and the website. :)

Your running into the hard-core Bush supporters at the state convention is no surprise: only the hard-core followers are that dedicated. The greatest problem moderates have had over the decades is that we're too...moderate in our passions for politics, too disorganized to show up in force at meetings and debates.

We need to get more moderates active in the local politics, in those meetings and debates. Then maybe it'll wake up the party zealots.

Then again, most of these meetings are on weeknights, and everyone's stuck working overtime at the office.
