New Photos

The Washington Post has realeased some new photos showing more disturbing images of abuse. The first one of a woman soldier holding a leash on an Iraqi prisoner is just evil.

dorsano,

I agree with your statement. Right now we could do with more people like Graham to help uncover this.

I think this is going to put an end to America's imperial ambitions for at least a decade or so. No country anywhere will tolerate an invasion when these results are so plain. No one is going to believe that we are there to "liberate" them. No one is going to be shocked and awed into surrendering. And our military is not going to have the strength to carry out imperialistic plans, not with enlistment and re-enlistment numbers dropping for the first time in years.

Once the government is forced to bring back the draft, that will lay imperialism to rest for the forseeable future.

"The American public needs to understand we're talking about rape and murder here. We're not just talking about giving people a humiliating experience," Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina told reporters after Rumsfeld testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee.

This statement by Lindsey makes me proud to be an American. When things get really ugly, we have never been ashamed to give the ugliness the full light of day.

As long as we continue to elect people like Lindsey Graham there is hope.

There is a chain of command that extends from every Private in the US millitary to the President.

Had Bush come out yesterday during his question/answer on Alhurra network and

1). Taken responsibilty for the abuses.
2). Apologized to the Iraqis, the world and us.
3). Fired Rumsfeld.

before anyone in Congress (Democrat or Republican) had a chance to suggest that this might be the appropriate course of action, he might very well have been reelected.

The hallmark of this Presidency has been its willingness to take risks -- from actually starting to implement Supply Side economics (tax policy), empowering the privatization of the public school system (with No Child Left Behind), beginning the privatization of Medicare (the Medicare perscription drug benefit), and starting to lay the groundwork for the dismantling of Social Security (to name a few).

The president took no risks yesterday. He stated the obvious - that these abuses are unacceptable and that we're sorry. They are in fact, some of the same abuses that he used to justify killing over 700 Americans and over 10,000 Iraqis.

He abdicated the presidency by not taking responsibility. The Executive branch of the government is in free fall and congress has taken the initiative to determine where we go from here.

The arrogance that begot this foreign policy and the logical falicy on which it is based, seems likely to be its undoing.

No spin here -- just the facts, ma'am -- and we believe the facts are all that's needed to convince everyone that it's time to Show Bush the Door in 2004.

And hey, we'll even give you a sticker for visiting us.
