Extraordinary Times Needs an Extraordinary Man

It seems like the chorus for a Kerry/McCain ticket is growing louder. David Ignatius of the Washington Post makes a convincing case for McCain to join the ticket: a way to united "red" and "blue" America in a time of war. The fact is we face a mess in Iraq and the threat of terrorists who seek to destroy this country. In times of crisis, you need a leader who can bring people together, not tear them apart. President Bush has not measured up to the task. He is busy trying to appease his far-right base that he has alienated most of America and the world at time when neither should be the case. Also, the worries of people like former Gore Campaign Chair Donna Brazzile of having a pro-life McCain on a ticket just sound silly to me and I'm pro-choice. Ignatious makes this challenge to McCain:

In normal times, people would accept McCain's response to joining Kerry: "I have totally ruled it out." But these aren't normal times, and McCain's response is unworthy. Simply put, the country needs him. The logic of a Kerry-McCain ticket isn't to win an election but to provide leadership for a divided country at war.

Amen. We need leaders not political hacks worried about winning the next election. Will McCain hear the call?

"So you gain moderates, lose liberals. I don't know the answer..."

Liberals can't be moderate?

Republicans can't be Liberal?

What a constipated country we live in.

I am so happy to see that you guys are still here!

On McCain...my primary concern is that the average voter doesn't like anything weird and will be put off by this type of dramatic move. And of course the left will scream that this proves that the Kerry administration will be "Republican." So you gain moderates, lose liberals. I don't know the answer...that's just my concern.

I just dropped in to see if anyone had compiled a list of articles that I could show to my Republican friends to open their eyes about Bush. I'm going to target those who liked McCain and Powell in 2000. I need sources that they would find credible...especially sources that document the things Powell and others in the administration have said themselves about the lack of evidence for WMD, the lack of a post-conflict plan for Iraq, the lack of evidence for any connection between Hussein and 9/11 or Al Queda.

If you have such a list...or even a good article to recommend, please click on my name and send me an email.

Thanks! And keep on doing what you are doing!

As I retired member of the Military, I could go one for hours about G W Bush and his leadership. However, I will avoid this and get to the real Truth.

Mr Bush and his gang have over the last 3 years done nothing more then help make the State he hails from in to the Largest RAPE and PILLAGE gang in the history of the United States. Just look what state controlles our Gas and Oil. Just look at what state controlles the Electrial Power, Phones, Radio, ETC.

If Mr Bush had his way, it would be The United States of Texas - Tomarrow.

Sounds good, Dennis.

I'm just surprised there isn't an "Oust McCain" web site already, dedicated to ridding the Republican Party of the Senator.

Mark,

I'm thinking of putting together a "draft McCain" site. What do you think?

Everyone,

Dennis Hastert's insulting remarks about John McCain make me wonder if the rumors of McCain joining Kerry are not only still floating around both parties, but if there's more than a hint of truth to them.

I think it's not only important to write to Senator McCain to lobby him to join Kerry, but to also write to your own senators to push McCain to join the ticket. Whether your senators are Democrats or Republicans (who haven't bought into Bush 100%), they can be powerful voices in McCain's ear.

My wife and I have already sent letters to Senators Clinton and Schumer here in New York. Get out the pen and paper and make it happen.
