The Permission Slip, Part Two

In response to my recent post called "Permission Slip" someone commented that Senator Kerry wants to outsource our foreign policy to other nations. Here is what the commentator, who goes by "Molotov" says:

When Kerry says that we must have "a global test" to even defend ourselves, he is outsourcing our national security to the U.N. As liberals typically want to do."

However, that is not what Kerry said. According to Spinsanity, probably one of the best fact checking and spin-busting sites around, what Kerry said is this that any preemptive action has to pass basically the "smell test." It has to make sense to Americans and to our allies. Nowhere in the text does Kerry say that we should bow to the UN or France or any other country.

As I said before, Bush and others have a right to criticize Kerry's foreign policy. They are entitled to their opinion. However, they are not allowed to have their own facts.

You merely strengthened the point that I said earlier. As Dick Cheney puts it, Kerry wants a permission slip (what you call a 'smell test') from the U.N. and our 'allies' like France - who are really now our enemy - before America can protect itself. That's outsourcing our national security to other folks. That's fact about Kerry's foreign policy outlook.

Really? If my brother doesn't hear it from Rush Limbaugh or on Fox news, it's just left wing lies.

This is true of far too many Americans. It's no wonder that outsourcing is such a major topic today. Most of us even outsource our thinking.

Nancy,

We're smarter than you think -- don't fret.

Dennis - This would be so obvious to anyone who listened to Senator Kerry's remarks. What do you think is going on with our population? Aren't you amazed that so many are willing to repeat such blatant lies as facts without blinking an eye? I mean, we know these people regurgitating the Bush talking points heard Senator Kerry's remark. Are they just stupid, or do they have some agenda that we don't know about? What do they want? What is it about the current state of affairs that justifies their acceptance of the lies they're repeatedly told? Why aren't they outraged at the treatment they receive from the Bush campaign (constantly being lied to?) None of the explanations I've heard so far really make any sense. Any insight?
