While Kerry's mention of Mary Cheney was awkward (he should have mentioned her in a long list of famous gay Americans, thus getting past the accusation of using Mary Cheney for political purposes), the sentiment is reasonable. Mary Cheney lost all "rights to privacy" when she started hawking "beers for queers" for the Coors company years ago. That Dick Cheney could work for a president who would codify his daughter's oppression into the constitution is both a legitimate political issue, and reprehensible.
